I had a chance to attend the Atlanta premiere of the forthcoming PBS documentary film "Inside Islam: What a Billion Muslims Really Think".  It's based on a global poll of Muslims conducted by Gallup.  The film highlights some of the polls findings and explores issues and questions consistently raised in the media regarding Islam and Muslim people.  There were several very insightful stats including the fact that all Muslim majority countries found more than 50% of men agreeing that women should be able to pursue any job they want.   For more specifics on the poll- visit the Gallup Center for Muslim Studies here.

The event was sponsored by the Atlanta-based organization Islamic Speakers Bureau.  If you don't know this organization-- you should.  The ISB has over 30 individuals who are accomplished presenters who "help promote religious understanding and facilitate interaction between public institutions and Muslim-Americans" by leading conversations at schools, houses of worship, companies and organizations.

The film and the ongoing programs of the ISB are exactly the kinds of human rights conversations we need to be having and the Center continues to foster.
