Call for Art to Commemorate The 1961 Freedom Rides |

May 2011 will amrk 50 years since the historic 1961 Freedom Rides. The Alabama Historical Commission and Alabama State Council on the Arts are together a juried exhibit for the Montgomery Greyhound Bus Station to commemorate the event. Artists from the Freedom Rides route-Washington DC and Nashville, TN through Jackson, MS or those whose work deals with the struggle for rights in America are asked to submit pieces for consideration. Selected artists will receive and honorarium and the exhibition will run at the Station for a year. The deadline for submissions is September 1, 2010.
