The Huff + Gooden, Hammel Green and Abrahamson, Smith Dalia team presented their design concept.  Here are two pictures illustrating the concept.  The CCHR team looks forward to comments posted about this concept under this post.  Please also see the other 4 finalists' concepts in other blog entries and provide comments on each respective design.

This one looks like an airport terminal to me. Not my first choice.

This design looks too sterile and cold to me. Now greenery will mean no one will want to spend time on the grounds of the center. The building itself also lacks any soft curves, or interesting angles. It is my last choice of the 5, based on these limited sketches.

I agree with the two prior comments: this design seems rather industrial. While I like the elevated glass levels, the underside of the building seems too claustrophobic and concrete. The design fails to capture the calming and relaxing atmosphere offered by nature. I imagine the interior of the building, on the other hand, feels quite open and inviting. Sunlight surely flows through the expansive windows and open skylights. Overall, it lacks the excitement that the CCHR will bring.

I though Mies van der Rohe was dead. No wait, he is, and so is this. Yaaaawwnnnnn. This could be any neo-Modernist building in any city for any purpose. Thank you for playing, H+G. Easily 5th of 5.

Very 1950's; it would appear severely outmoded in no time

I see nothing special about this design - looks like a trucking warehouse to me.

Nothing new. Sorry to agree, but it does remind of an airline terminal.

Of all the choices, my least favorite. Nothing too eventful or exciting in the total design.

this scheme is austere and powerful, a statement about space and the beauty of simplicity - it will allow the museum flexibility in its programming - the architecture is un-self-concious and won't overpower the museum's mission.

The images lack the vibrancy one would expect of a building where people are coming to learn, celebrate and share stories about civil & human rights. The architecture presented feels conceptually wrong. It lacks the place defining characteristcs that a program and museum like this so strongly requires.

Agree with opinions above - concept seems to cold, civil and human rights theme not embodied.
